British Council Study UK Creative Arts Campaign

Services
The British Council commissioned Feral to create a flagship campaign for its Study UK programme, promoting the UK as a leading destination for international students pursuing creative arts degrees. Designed to reach prospective students around the world, the campaign needed to inspire, inform and showcase the breadth of creative opportunities available across the UK's higher education sector.

About
At its heart, the project was about helping young people imagine their future. Rather than focusing solely on institutions, facilities or course information, the campaign sought to highlight the experiences, ambitions and creative journeys of students themselves. The challenge was to create content that felt authentic and relatable while also delivering against the strategic objectives of a major international education campaign.
Working closely with the British Council and participating universities, Feral led the project from creative development through to final delivery. Our role included concept creation, scripting, art direction, location planning, cinematography, shoot direction and post-production. With multiple stakeholders involved, it was important to develop a narrative approach that could represent a diverse range of institutions, disciplines and student experiences while maintaining a clear and consistent creative identity.
To maximise both reach and production value, we combined original filming with carefully selected archive and university-supplied content. This approach allowed us to showcase a wider variety of creative subjects, locations and learning environments than would have been possible through filming alone. The result was a richer and more representative picture of studying creative arts in the UK, while ensuring the project remained efficient and cost-effective.
The creative treatment blended cinematic visuals, authentic student contributions and a carefully crafted narrative designed to resonate with international audiences. Rather than relying on traditional promotional messaging, the campaign focused on creativity, aspiration and personal growth, helping prospective students connect emotionally with the opportunities available to them. Every element of the production was designed to feel modern, inspiring and globally relevant.
Alongside the hero film, Feral delivered a suite of supporting campaign assets tailored for use across digital and social platforms. This included platform-specific edits, photography and additional content designed to extend the lifespan of the campaign and support the British Council's wider international marketing activity.
The finished campaign demonstrated the power of storytelling within student recruitment and international education marketing. By placing authentic experiences at the centre of the narrative, the content was able to connect with audiences in a meaningful way while supporting the Study UK programme's strategic objectives.
For Feral, the project remains a strong example of our ability to create audience-focused content for complex stakeholder environments. It showcases our experience working with international education organisations, managing multiple contributors, and delivering versatile content packages that combine strategic thinking with creative storytelling. Most importantly, it demonstrates our ability to help organisations communicate opportunity, aspiration and impact through film.
