Did you know Feral Creative builds websites? Our approach grew from frustration with complex WordPress sites, where even small updates demanded a specialist developer. We wanted to create distinctive, polished websites at sensible prices, then hand clients the confidence to manage them. That journey led us to Wix Studio, then to the Royal Dart Yacht Club rebuild.

About

Our website work began with a familiar problem: WordPress builds that looked good at launch but became awkward and time-consuming or expensive. Changing a photograph, opening hours or adding a new page could require specialist support. For smaller organisations and clubs, that dependency made routine improvements unnecessarily slow.

Our first major test was Dart Gig Club. On a mid-range budget, we created a confident public website with members-only areas and Dabble, a chatbot uniquely trained around the club and its information. It proved that a practical platform could still deliver personality, useful technology and secure member content.

Next, we rebuilt Feral Creative’s website alongside our rebrand as a creative agency. It moved both site and business forward. Soft scrolling and dynamic image flow make it distinctive, premium and fit for purpose, while nearly every update is handled internally, saving specialist costs.

Royal Dart Yacht Club was the clearest application yet. Its old WordPress site had grown beyond 44 main pages, with more than 120 indexed links and several audiences competing in one structure. With work and input from the client, we reviewed, rewrote and consolidated the material, reducing it to 14 core pages.

The decisive idea was a landing page that separates two sides of the club. Visitors choose either Sailing and Membership or Events and Private Hire, entering a focused journey with its own navigation, imagery and calls to action. Sailors, prospective members and hospitality customers can find relevant information without working through everything else.

The process remained simple. The club supplied existing copy, forms and imagery; Feral handled structure, writing, design, build, responsive testing and launch. Tools, including SmartClub and team-managed Google calendars, were retained where they already worked.

The club now has a distinctive website that its own team staff and volunteers can update, without the cost of a bespoke build or constant developer support.

"Feral turned a gloriously complex brief into a professional website that's genuinely easy to manage and excellent value. If you've ever tried to get a volunteer-run committee to agree on anything, you'll know it's a bit like herding cats. Cats with strong opinions and full inboxes. Somehow, Feral navigated our many stakeholders and project managers without losing patience (or the plot), bringing humour, candour and kindness to every meeting. Ten out of ten." -
